AC 3.1
The Welsh Government provides the College with the LSF to offer financial help and support vulnerable learners. The fund can help towards cases of financial hardship and can assist me if I need extra help to pay for transport, books and equipment or childcare costs.
To be eligible for this grant I must be a full time learner with an annual household income of £20,000 or less. Learners whose annual household income is £16,190 or under may also be eligible for free meals from the college canteen. In order to apply I must complete an Application Form and meet the College’s criteria explained in the guidance notes.
The cost of a College concessionary bus pass per term will be £10. The bus pass will then entitle me to travel for a discounted single fare payable for each journey between home and college. This single ticket is valid for transfers if a change of bus is necessary. The table below show how much a single ticket will cost.
Learners aged 16 - 18 years old in Caerphilly are automatically entitled to a free pass and free travel. All other learners can also apply for the means tested Learner Support Fund (LSF) that may enable me to benefit from a free bus pass and free travel to and from the College. Forms are available from Learner Services at your campus at the start of the academic year.
If the learner is aged 19 years or over, an overseas/international student or studying an HE course they will need to apply directly to the college and pay the appropriate fee. Application forms are available from Learner Service.
AC 3.2
My sources of learning are:- In the learning centre.
- Tutors can help me personally.
AC 3.3
All full-time students are allocated a personal tutor who provides support and guidance to the group or individuals.
My personal tutor this year is:
Raj Chand (phone no 466063)
During the tutorial I will meet individually with the tutor to discuss progress and/or problems I may have. My personal tutor will make sure I get expert help if my problem is of a more serious nature. My progress will be reviewed regularly and I will know if you are on track to achieve my desired qualification.
Through the year, my tutorial group will undertake certain activities together – this includes Induction and Careers information. I have to use my tutorial time to get the best out of my course – ideas for improving the course or Campus are always welcome and the tutorial is a good place to discuss such ideas.
